don't settle

“Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”

home offices!

A friend of mine just moved into a sexy new pad in Koreatown (Los Angeles), and demanded that I divert my recent fashion-fixation over to lovely home offices.

When creating a personal work space, there are a few points to consider:

I know that for myself, I wouldn’t want to create in a space that feels sterile like a doctor’s office. This means that attention should be given to color, lighting, and use of space. Bright colors are always stimulating {but you don’t want walls that look like easter eggs, either.} I’m big on color schemes, so take some time to plan out  a layout that gets your motor running. Turn to soft, warm lighting since neon overheads {aside from being terribly unflattering}, do not possess a “womb of ambiance”! Desk lamps focus on what’s in front of you, and surrounding yourself by candlelight is another way to up the cozy factor- I recommend Pacifica scented candles, which are available at Whole Foods {fig is my favorite}.

Try to find unique decorative accents which inspire you throughout the day: Etsy, of course, is a top-notch option for handmade goodies- and antique fleamarkets are full of treasures just waiting to find a new home! Cork-board collages, old magazine cut-outs, post cards n’ photographs, fabrics, art, ceramics and random trinkets make any room come alive. You’ll be surprised at how even just a few beautiful adornments can tie a room together, and add bits of your personality to the space in which you inhabit. After each tasking session, be sure to put away the items you used because the cleaner and more organized a space, the cleaner and more organized the mind!  Try to follow the natural tendencies and impulses you have regarding where you place your belongings- don’t force an unrealistic plan of action on yourself. It is my belief that the happier you make your space, the better your creations will turn out. Makes sense, no?

Tell me that you need to slowly

Tell me that you can’t afford me

Time to tell yr dirty story

Time f’r turning over and over

Tell me that you’re famous for me

Tell me that yr gonna score me

Tell me that you gotta show me

Tell me that you need to sorely
